Mount Baldy Super Loop - Greer, Arizona

West Baldy Trail # 96 - East Baldy Trail # 95 and Crossover Trail
This is probably the most beautiful trail systems in the White Mountains. I usually hike in the area about ten times a year. I enjoy the beginning of the river and rises up above the valley will be greeted by the 100-mile mountain views.Biljni and the wildlife is fantastic, and for the nine months of the year the track heads are available.
Directions: There are numerous ways to access the trail head. From Eagar, AZ to US260 west to Big Lake turnoff (County Road 261), follow until you intersect with County Road 273 (Forest Road 113) turn right (west), past the turnoff Lake Reservation, will first come to the East Baldy # 95 head course, continue for less than 3 miles and you will get a new bridge crossing known as the Sheep. This is an unofficial trail head for the West Baldy Trail # 96, turn south and drive down near the old bridge to the park. However, if you continue west another 1 / 4 mile, the official West Baldy Trail # 96 trail head begins. From Greer, AZ to Northwoods Road to County Road 273, turn left (east) and after a couple of miles you will arrive at a new West Baldy # 96 trail head just before the turn of Sheep. From Alpine, AZ to forest road 249 (William Valley Road) west towards the Great Lake, you will intersect with County Road 273 from the Great Lakes entrance, turn left (west) and travel in sheep crossing or uphill 1 / 4 mile nastvarni West Baldy # 96 trail head -. THS trail head primitive rest room facilities, no water

If you hike 18 miles of Mount Baldy Super Loop I highly recommend that you start your trip in sheep crossing. N3357.590 '& W10939.495' - Elevation 9185. "Access the trail head of Sheep Moves to West Baldy, track # 96 or from the real West Baldy trail head just west of the sheep prijelaza.Razmišljanje that will keep your feet dry and very end of the hike. However, there is now the main bridge over the West Fork of Little River CO, which can be used for crossover Trail or two pondersoas Split in half and staked into place. Crossing of the sheep just head south down the path and you will come to the door. This gate marks the "old" West Baldy Trailhead parking lot. Continue through the door and turn left onto the track. If the path to the right will be taken back to the actual time you head to the track West Baldy # 96 After a quarter mile or so to come the sign that says Phelps Cab 3.25 km - to the West Baldy Trail crossover and Phelps cabin was torn down by the Forest Service years ago. Continuing to the south, the main trail and you will be treated to a wide-open valley with the West Fork of Little Colorado River as a companion for a few milja.Pastrve fishing used to be good, but the AZ game & Fish poison all trout .... obviously to create habitat for local Apache trout, but it really does not seem to be any kind of living - very confusing approach to the game !!
After an hour or so a pretty cool level of hiking you will cross over the bridge and begin your climb Mount Baldy in the southeast. There is a nice resting place on the road with a big rock and nice pogleda.Uspon will tilt dramatically in a couple of miles as they negotiate a series of switchbacks. It is the most strenuous hiking on Super Loop. The trail is well worn and the track that should not be a problem. After the last round-hill you will "top out" at close to 11,000 'elevation. At this point, about 1.5 miles from the border half a book. This part of the trail is unique as they are cruising along pretty close to the 11,000 level. "Pole Reservation border in a small clearing and the intersection of West Baldy trail # 96 and runs east 95th N3355.015 Baldy # & 'W 10933.965' - 11,195 'elevation. If you make it that far you've just climbed a little over 2000 'vertical in altitude! May you turn around and head back down the West Baldy Trail, but I still recommend a walk on the trail east of Baldy # 95th
East Baldy Trail # 95 is in my opinion more than two scenic trails. It does not have as high as the use of the West Baldy Trail and offers a fantastic panoramic view. In addition, half of the reservation boundary are less than half a mile from the plane wreckage, which adds a little mystery to the trip. The aircraft is easily seen if the vegetation is not too heavy. You will come to a clearing with a lot of rockfall. It is easy place to remember because you are placing your feet carefully to avoid bending the ankle on irregular walls. On the opposite side of the rockfall appearance due south to the mountains and you will see the wings and fuselage older model aircraft. Your descent will take over the small bridge the stream, and then a few switchbacks - it will be rolling along fairly level trail. After a mile or so trail will turn 90 degrees to the east before it will be nice to miss. Take a few minutes to climb to the top of the watch, and you'll see more than one hundred miles north to Flagstaff and Mt. Humphreys, Painted Desert to the north, even the mountains in the northeast of Escondido to Quemado, NM.
picking up the trail again will go down a few switchbacks and the trail will turn north. After a mile or so you'll get the open space of smooth volcanic rock 200 meters or so. This is a great place to kick back and relax. The views are awesome and dark rock feels great on your bare feet - usually from the wind too! If you are not ready for the holidays, but you are only a mile or so of the best picnic I've found in the White Mountains. N3355.535 '& W10931.175' - height of 10,170. "The area consists of volcanic pyroclastic rocks and there are numerous Hoodoos (irregular pillars of stone - and my golden retriever's name). This is a fantastic destination with jaw dropping views and more "Butt-buckets" to sit down and relax. Once you go down and down through the Hoodoos you will find yourself in a very wooded području.Odvodnje for the East Fork of the Little Colorado River will be off to the right (south). the trail will wind through the woods for miles, and then open in the valley itself. After another short limit for walking along the river you will find is the trailhead for the East Baldy Trail # 95 and Galbadon camping less than 1 / 4 mile away to the northeast.
East Baldy Trail # 95 is a brand new parking lot and can be accessed by any vehicle - N3355.800 '& W10929.500' - Elevation 9480 '. I've been to this trailhead numerous times during the winter months , in the 4x4 - the road is not maintained in winter, so be careful. as you pass along the door track Crossover trailhead will be on your right (west). Crossover trail itself is a great day of hiking destinations as dobro.Staza is more 3 miles from the Sheeps Crossing and rolls up and over several small "round tops" and then goes down to several beautiful meadows. These fields are usually full of elk! Although Sheeps crossing Trailhead is less than the # 95 trail head - Trail crossover will give you a few heart pumping uphill SLOGS of beer within their Super Loop hike. the trail will eventually wind down the drain for a few hundred meters before reaching the West Fork of the Little Colorado River. Sometimes there are improvised log bridges, but they routinely wash-there is one in place. However, if there is no bridge, your best bet is to grab hold of a branch and give your best to jump over a small stream - or just hop over and Wade, usually water no more than 18 "deep with wet feet. will not ruin your day at this point because you have less than half a mile from its original trailhead at Sheeps Crossing, 1.3 miles of the actual West Baldy # 96 trail head.
Mount Baldy Super Loop is usually a 6-8 hour hike ... My best time is 5 hours really hoofing. Remember to pack rain jackets during the summer months and always wear layered nylon outer haljine.30-degree swing in temperature is typical for this area. To closely follow the GPS UTMS please set the GPS to WGS84 datum.
